Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday ordered the launch of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Award for Emiratisation.

Shaikh Mohammad also approved the criteria for the award for which both the public and private sector bodies in the emirate of Dubai are eligible.

These criteria include strategic emiratisation plans and programmes, emiratisation leadership, training and empowerment of Emirati human resources, and emiratisation community initiatives.

Along with Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad had earlier reviewed a detailed study on the four criteria of the award which was submitted to him by Ahmad Nusairat, coordinator of the government excellence programme. The study aims to facilitate the implementation of these criteria by government and private sector bodies in order to attain favourable results in the employment and training of Emirati citizens, and integrating them into these companies and bodies.

The implementation of these criteria also aims to encourage Emiratis to work in fields were the emiratisation rate is low, and to encourage a national initiative for emiratising jobs.

The study lists the first criterion as emiratisation plans, programmes and strategies that aim to study methods for emiratisation operations and specifying these operations’ objectives and goals, and mechanisms for their actual implementation.

The second criterion — emiratisation leadership — consists of the vision and mechanism adopted by the higher administration of organisations in dealing with the issue of emiratisation and ways to address it, and how to convey to Emirati and other employees the objectives and goals of the organisation.

The third criterion focuses on efforts of organisations in training, empowering and incentivising Emirati human resources, and developing their vocational and technical abilities and skills allowing them to take on new professional positions in their currently held designations.

The fourth and final criterion — emiratisation community initiatives — focuses on the contributions of an organisation to activities, issues and development initiatives for recruiting Emiratis and human resources development.

All four criteria will include four schedules that include questions for the organisations which they will need to answer to ensure the authenticity of the provided data in order to ascertain the achievement of national objectives.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his admiration for the study, and approved it. He stressed his support for any work or initiative that helps serve the UAE and its citizens.
