Islamabad: A senior official of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday said PTI had received around 4,500 applications for party tickets adding that strong candidates have been fielded to contest the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a press conference here, central information secretary Fawad Chaudhary said potential candidates were awarded party tickets after a due process of selection.

He said there were no issues with the awarding almost 90 per cent tickets to the candidates adding that those hoping to contest could file review applications on ‘Insaf.com’.

He said PTI had been the first party to introduce online submission of applications.

Meanwhile, the PTI chairman has also announced a dedicated Whatsapp number for members to lodge complaints in case any one demand money for awarding of a party ticket, he said.

Fawad said efforts would be made to satisfy and address the reservations of the aggrieved candidates.

“All these candidates will be part of PTI in the struggle to create a new Pakistan,” he said.

The PTI official also demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the caretaker government to look into appointments and postings made during last days of PML-N government. He said the PML-N government appointed Advocate General Punjab, Chairmen PEMRA, PIA and HEC in last week of its tenure which was tantamount to pre-poll rigging. He said neither, the ECP took notice of such appointments nor cronies of PML-N government were removed from the posts. He said PTI would write a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister in order to make immediate reshuffling in the bureaucracy.

Regarding, Nawaz’s Sharif lawyer Khawaja Haris, Fawad Chaudhary said the accountability court should follow due legal procedure and conclude the trial as it has already been delayed. He demanded that deal should not be given to former PM Nawaz Sharif, his children and Ishaq Dar. About power load-shedding, Fawad Chaudhary said the caretaker government should take nation into confidence about reason of prolong power outage. He said on the directives of Imran Khan, PTI would stage token protest in front of press clubs across the country tomorrow about excessive load-shedding.
