Islamabad: Deposed Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hassan and Hussain, have been blacklisted by the authorities, barring them from travelling using their Pakistani passports, reports said on Wednesday.

Sharif’s sons, who live in London, were declared absconders by a court after they failed to appear in any of the three corruption cases lodged against them, along with their father, after a Supreme Court decision in July 2017.
The anti-corruption body National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested for their names to be placed on the Exit Control List, on which the caretaker cabinet has not passed a decision, Geo News reported.
Passports blocked
The NAB made another request to Pakistan’s Immigration and Passport Directorate, after which their passports were blocked and their names put on the blacklist, the report said.
Last week, the federal investigation agency approached Interpol, seeking Red Corner Notices to be issued against Hassan and Hussain.
An accountability court has issued warrants in the Avenfield Reference case and ordered that Sharif’s sons be produced before court immediately. The court also issued non-bailable perpetual arrest warrants against them.
Last month, the court sentenced former prime minister Sharif to 10 years in prison, his daughter Maryam to seven and son-in-law captain (retired) Safdar Awan to one year in prison.
Fines
Sharif and Maryam were also slapped with fine of £8 million (Dh37,809,411) and £2 million (Dh9,452,263) respectively.
Sharif was disqualified as prime minister in July 2017 by the Supreme Court, following a challenge to his office by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan on the basis of publication of the Panama Papers, which alleged that the Sharif family stashed away assets in London through offshore companies Nescoll and Nelson.
The companies are owned by Hussain Nawaz.
The assets in question are four expensive flats in London worth over £200 million pounds.
Hussain admitted ownership of the flats but denied that they were purchased through corruption money.
