FAISALABAD: Mastana, a billy goat owned by Gujranwala-based citizen Bao Farrukh, here Friday won the animal beauty contest, with a weight of 300 kilograms.

Chief organiser of the contest, Chaudhry Ata Muhammad Gujjar, said here Friday that the contest was held at Lal Mill Chowk, Factory Area. Another he-goat ‘Phannay Khan’ from Gujranwala, stood second with a weight of 292-kg, whereas the third position holder, yet another he-goat ‘Tipu’ of Atif Gujjar from Lahore weighed 289kg.

Similarly, a bull of Faisalabad-based man Tariq Madola, got the first position with a weight of 1,135kg, whereas bulls of Faizan and Usman stood second and third at 1038-kg and 941-kg, respectively.

In the buffalo competition, male buffalo (bhensa) of Inaamul Haq got the first position with 975.500-kg weight while male buffaloes of Umar Gujjar and Ashfaq Gill were declared second and third position holders at 952kg and 760kg, respectively.

In the ram competition, ram of Lahore-based Irfan grabbed the first position weighing 165kg whereas rams of Shabbir Ahmad of Faisalabad and Muhammad Usman of Lahore stood second and third at 150kg and 89kg, respectively.

Chief Organiser Chaudhary Ata Muhammad Gujjar later on distributed prizes among the position holders.

Cash prize of Rs250,000 (Dh13,377) was given to the first position holder while Rs125,000 and Rs75,000 were awarded to second and third position holders in goat competition.

Similarly, Rs100,000, Rs50,000 and Rs25,000 were awarded to first, second and third position holders in ram competition, whereas the first, second and third position holders of remaining competitions of bull and buffalo were given cash prizes of Rs50,000, Rs25,000 and Rs10,000, each.

Special prizes beauty contest of Rs50,000 each were awarded to first and second position holder sheep of Tariq Madola and goats of Bao Farrukh and Mohammad Irfan, chief organizer added.
