Patna: While there have been instances of newly-wed women decked in bridal attire rushing to examination halls for their papers, a new mother straight out of a hospital writing an exam may be a first.
On Saturday, a woman in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, rushed to an exam hall in an ambulance just one-and-half hours after delivering a baby boy to sit for her Bachelor of Education (BEd) examination.
Muzaffarpur lies some 80km from Patna.
As per reports, Ranju Kumari developed labour pain hours before her BEd exam was to begin in Muzaffarpur.
She was rushed to a local private hospital where she gave birth to her second child. Soon thereafter, she kept insisting on going to the exam centre. Initially, the doctors were unwilling to let her travel in her state, but her persistence won them over.
She took an ambulance to the spot, getting there 30 minutes after the paper had begun. Seeing her dedication for education, the centre’s superintendent, Mamta Rani, allowed her to take the exam, going so far as to allowing her to write her papers in the ambulance with an invigilator on hand.
“We salute her dedication for studies. She has proved women’s awareness towards studies has increased,” Rani said.
The examinee said she need to be better educated so she could take better care of her children, and so in spite of feeling unwell she took the exam.
