New Delhi: Hindu fundamentalist outfit Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday urged the Narendra Modi government to bring a law to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya stating that the matter was being “unnecessarily delayed” in the Supreme Court.
“The government should clear the path for construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya through an appropriate and requisite law. The temple construction was necessary from the self-esteem point of view and it will also pave the way for an atmosphere of goodwill and oneness,” he said in his annual ‘Vijayadashmi’ address at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.
The RSS chief said the temple should have been built by now, but political parties were playing politics over it.
“People are questioning why the temple is not being built, despite their chosen government being in power. Ram is our deity and his path still guides us. Mughal ruler Babur demolished Ram Temple to trounce our self-respect. The foundations of the temple have been unearthed, but the case is getting delayed in the court,” he said.
On the issue of “urban Maoism,” Bhagwat said the Naxals were propagating falsehood and hatred in society.
“Maoism has always been urban and that the neo-Left doctrine of urban naxals is to establish an anti-national leadership with blind followers solely committed to them. Maoism has always used neglected sections of society to further its agenda. Maoists take strength from the country’s enemies and always malign the nation wherever they go,” he said.
Bhagwat stated that the cohorts of Maoists were established in social media and intellectual circles. He said the government and the administration need to address this seriously.
“By creating a vicious atmosphere that weakens the social cohesion — essentially the bedrock of internal security of a nation — a world of psychological warfare is being carved out by urban Naxals. This is called as ideological warfare,” he said.
On the issue of Rafale deal, the RSS head said that India should not depend on anyone for its security.
“We should produce whatever is needed to protect us. We sell our farm produce to those who sell us what is needed to protect us. We have to create conditions and move towards self-reliance,” he added.
While speaking at the event, Nobel Peace Prize winner and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi urged RSS volunteers to work for a better present and future of the country.
He asked the outfit to take steps towards checking child trafficking in the country.
“Following someone blindly will not bring laurels to Mother India. We need to create sensitive India, independent India, self-respecting India. Proper education to crores of underprivileged children in India is necessary for its prosperity,” Satyarthi said.
