Hyderabad: Dharmapuri Sanjay, the former Mayor of Nizamabad and son of senior Telengana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader D Srinivas, has been accused by students of a local nursing college of sexual harassment.

The group of girls, from Shankary Nursing College, complained to Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy in Hyderabad that Sanjay had tried to sexually abuse two students on July 2

Accompanied by Sandhya, president of the Progressive Women’s Organisation, the group also alleged that Sanjay used his clout to deprive the two girls of accommodation at a private hostel in Nizamabad. They demanded protection for the girls, so they could continue with their studies.

The minister contacted Nizamabad Police Commissioner Karthikeya to probe the allegations and take necessary action.

Meanwhile, talking to the media in Nizamabad on Friday, Sanjay denied the allegations, calling them a political conspiracy to destroy his political career.

“I don’t know any nursing college students. I have nothing to do with the college. I had handed over the management of the Shankary Nursing college to others long ago,” he said. Sanjay agreed to extend full cooperation to the police probe.

The episode has come to the light close on the heels of a public spat between Sanjay’s father and TRS Rajya Sabha member D Srinivas and local MP K Kavitha. Many local TRS leaders alleged that Srinivas was hobnobbing with the BJP, as his younger son had joined the party.
