Dubai: A video showing the son of a former Indian parliamentarian, waving a gun and hurling abuses at a couple outside a five-star hotel in Delhi, went viral online in India today.

Many Twitter users called out the “VIP brat” in “pink pants”, and requested Delhi Police to arrest him soon.

Tweep @rohini_sgh posted: “Who is the BSP leader whose son is a brat, wears pink pants and goes around threatening people with a gun?”

The young man in the video was identified as Ashish Pandey, the son of Ritesh Pandey, a former Member of Parliament (MP) of India’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The Delhi Police have booked Ashish Pandey after the video was widely shared on social media.

The video appears to have been shot on a mobile phone by someone accompanying Pandey in his car.

According to Indian news broadcast channel, NDTV: “A look-out circular, which alerts the police at borders, airports and railway stations about a wanted man, has been issued.”

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju reacted to the news on Twitter and posted: “Strong and appropriate action will be taken.”

The minister also added that an First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Arms Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) by the Delhi Police.

A woman is seen in the video, joining the accused to intimidate the couple. Rijiju confirmed that the authorities were looking into the verification of the identities of others involved.

@DeepikaBhardwaj tweeted: “Ashish Pandey who flashed his gun at a hotel in Delhi needs to be called out for sure. But why no outrage against the woman...? She was as abusive as Pandey. Shouldn’t she be summoned as well?”

According to a Twitter update by the news agency @ANINewsUP: “Lucknow police arrives at the residence of Ashish Pandey, son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, who was seen brandishing a gun outside a five-star hotel in Delhi on October 14.”

Tweep @ifrahul92 posted: “Ashamed over our political system, which is not able to grab the #VVIPbrat who tried to [create] ruckus in the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). #AshishPandey”

Twitter user @irobertvadra questioned the government and the situation of law and order in Delhi.

He posted: “I really fear for the safety of our children and people of Delhi, the capital of our country. What is the law and order prevailing? And, who is accountable? Has the chief minister seen what is existing? And, will they take an account of this insane behaviour with guns and profanity? God help us!”

And tweep @BinaNepram highlighted: “A politician’s son pulls out a gun at a #Delhi hotel and threatens people. In #Manipur, current BJP Chief Minister’s son pulled out a gun and shot at a 19-year-old boy who died. Yet attempts and threats made to subvert the case. Is this clean politics #SwatchBharat?”
