    The rules around social distancing and personal hygiene while travelling in a vehicle were clarified by the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA).

    On June 25, when the National Disinfection Programme was successfully concluded, NCEMA had issued reminders on general rules that needed to be followed to continue the precautions against COVID-19.

    “A maximum of three people are allowed to travel in a car at the same time, with the exception of members of the same family. If there is more than one person in a car, masks must be worn at all times.”

    On August 2, the Weqaya hotline (800 –WEQAYA) set up by NCEMA, confirmed that while there were no restrictions on members of the same family travelling in a vehicle

    Individuals have also been urged to wear masks at all times, especially if they are in a vehicle with someone else.

    Fines you should be aware of According to the Weqaya hotline, anyone found in violation of the social distancing guidelines within vehicles or found outside without a mask would be fined Dh3,000 and above.
