Dh100 to Dh10,000 – all the fines announced related to the new traffic toll
Dubai: From January 2, 2020, a new road toll system will come into effect in Abu Dhabi. The Darb road toll will be applied during peak hours, in order to facilitate traffic flow in the emirate. If you have not registered your vehicle yet with Darb system, it is advisable to do so immediately, motorists will face fines for unregistered vehicles as well as other violations.
To register your vehicle you would need to visit darb.itc.gov.ae
The registration requirements are as follows:
• The traffic file number code of the person or company.
• The Emirates ID of the account holder to verify the data retrieved upon registration.
• An active personal email if you are registering a personal account. It is preferable to use the establishment mail when registering an establishment account.
• Mobile number registered with the traffic file number.
The fines will be applied and calculated in the tolling gate system as the following:
A fine will be issued with the amount Dh100 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the first time when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle.
A fine will be issued with the amount Dh200 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the second time when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle.
A fine will be issued with the amount Dh400 for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for any passes after the second pass when the grace period ends (10 working days) starting from passing date without registering the vehicle.
A fine will be issued with the amount Dh50 for each transaction in case of insufficient balance for vehicles that hold a plate number which are not related to Abu Dhabi, after the grace period ends (Five working days) without sufficient balance in assigned wallet for the vehicle.
A fine will be issued with the amount of Dh10,000 for manipulating with the vehicle's license plate to evade the payment of traffic fees
A fine will be issued with the amount of Dh10,000 for damaging any of the electronic payment machines or toll gates.
The system will send you a text message alert on the mobile number registered with the vehicle on the Darb system to inform you about the violation. You can pay the fines using the available balance in your financial wallet after logging in to the system, either through the website – www.darb.itc.gov.ae – or by using the mobile application DARB.
