Dubai: If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you may be wondering if you can isolate at home or if you must go to an institutional facility for the purpose. On Monday, Emirates Health Services (EHS) posted on their social media channels about home isolation guidelines and who is eligible for it.

These criteria would be applicable for all people living in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain or Fujairah. Also, if you live in any of these emirates, EHS would be the authority you would deal with, whether you have any inquiries related to COVID-19 or need any assistance.

Who is eligible for home isolation?

As per EHS, the criteria to be eligible for home isolation is as follows:

  • There must be a separate room with a private bathroom.
  • You must have an active phone number, so that you can be contacted by the relevant authorities as well as your family, and to allow you to contact local health authorities, too.
  • You qualify for home isolation if your COVID-19 symptoms are stable.
  • You have first aid kit that includes a thermometer and oximeter (a tool to measure oxygen saturation in blood).
  • You adhere to COVID-19 precautionary measures, such as sanitisation of surfaces, wearing masks and gloves and social distancing.

For residents of Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain or Fujairah, you can contact EHS for any COVID-19 related inquiries on 8008877.
