Dubai: On November 28, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) approved the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and above.

The eligible categories include those who are fully vaccinated with the two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Sputnik vaccine. The booster dose will only be given six months after the second dose.

How can you get the booster dose?

In an announcement on its official social media channels, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced the process for how those who are of or over the age of 18 years can take the booster dose, six months after receiving the second dose.

The announcement stated that Emiratis and Dubai residents who are 18 years and above.

However, the booster dose for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine can be taken six months after the second dose.

Also, it is important to note that vaccination is available on an appointment basis only.

Appointments can be booked through the DHA app or by calling the DHA contact centre - 800342

COVID-19 Vaccination Centres at DHA that provide the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine:

  • One Central COVID-19 Vaccination Centre (Last day is December 16, 2021)
  • Al Garhoud Medical Fitness Centre
  • Al Karama Medical Fitness Centre
  • Za'abeel Health Centre
  • Al Mizhar Health Centre
  • Al Barsha Health Centre
  • Nad Al Hamar Health Centre
  • Albiet Metwahid Hall in Al Warqa

Documents needed

When you arrive at a DHA vaccination centre, you would need to provide the following documents:

Emiratis

  • Emirates ID

Dubai visa holders:

  • Emirates ID
  • Passport + Dubai visa copy

Living in Dubai and have a UAE residence visa issued by another Emirate:

  • Proof of residence in the Emirate of Dubai
  • Emirates ID
  • Passport copy

Steps to book an appointment through the DHA App:

  1. Click on "Book COVID-19 Vaccine"
  2. Select the location "Based on vaccine type"
  3. Choose "Time & Date"
  4. Confirm booking

How to create a Medical Record Number (MRN):

Your MRN is required when booking your COVID-19 vaccine appointment

  1. Visit the DHA website www.dha.gov.ae or this direct link - https://bit.ly/MRN_E
  2. Enter your Emirates ID number.
  3. Enter the OTP received to your registered mobile number
  4. Enter your details
  5. Submit your request
