Dubai: The UAE has plenty of options for cinema lovers, from theatres across the country showing all the top movies as soon as they are released worldwide to film festivals in different emirates that celebrate the art of film-making.
Typically, you would see a cinema attached to a mall in the UAE, except a handful of standalone ones in a few emirates. However, the options for a film buff are never ending. The cost for a ticket ranges from Dh35 up to Dh150, depending on the level of luxury or engagement you would like in your viewing experience.
Standard tickets start from Dh35, and there are various upgrades available – 3D movies, 4D movies, IMAX theatres (which have large, curved screens), or even dine-in options. If you are truly feeling fancy, you can even book a private viewing of the film, with the entire cinema booked by you.

Needless to say, these luxuries come at a cost. But even if you go for the most basic viewing experience, shelling out Dh35 per ticket every other week along with the popcorn, nachos or soft driinks available at the confectionary stand can add up as well.
However, you do not need to fret over movie night burning a hole in your pocket. Many credit card companies and banks, along with telecom companies du and etisalat have discount days, where you get a free ticket on every purchase. Some cardholders can even upsize their meals for free, so you don’t need to fret over added costs if you love going to the cinema regularly.
