Keep raw meat separate from vegetables and ready-to-eat foods.
Use separate utensils and cutting boards for raw and cooked items to prevent cross-contamination.
While cooking and serving:
Cook meat thoroughly until it is fully done—no pink remains.
Serve food immediately after cooking and avoid leaving it exposed to the elements.
When leaving the campsite:
Discard any food left out for more than two hours or exposed to contaminants.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling food.
