Can’t afford a lawyer? The Dubai Courts' offers free consultations with law firms
Dubai: If you are facing legal challenges in the UAE and cannot afford legal consultation, Dubai Courts offers a valuable solution through the ‘Shoor’ programme. This initiative provides free legal advice in collaboration with volunteer law firms, ensuring access to justice for those in financial need.
The Shoor programme is a volunteer-driven initiative where participating legal firms in the UAE dedicate a specific number of hours each month to provide free consultations. The Litigant Guidance division of Dubai Courts oversees the programme, facilitating connections between eligible individuals and law firms.
The programme has clear guidelines to ensure support reaches those who need it most:
Financial eligibility: Free legal advice is exclusively available to individuals who are financially struggling. Companies are not eligible.
Timing: The consultation is offered before filing a lawsuit and is limited to one session for the same issue.
Licensed professionals: Legal advice is provided by a licensed lawyer or legal advisor affiliated with a Dubai-based law firm.
Format and duration: Consultations can take place over the phone or in person at the law firm’s discretion. Each session lasts between 30 to 60 minutes.
The Shoor programme operates during the following hours:
Monday to Thursday: 7am – 2.20pm
Friday: 7am – 11.20am
