COVID-19: Five precautions to take when using public transport

If you are using public transport to go to work or for essential trips in the UAE, follow these top five precautions.

1. Reach 30 minutes ahead of time

This will help ensure social distancing in the bus or Metro cabin.

2. Step back

It is important to ensure social distancing, particularly when you could potentially come in contact with several people during the day.

It is mandatory to wear a face mask, whenever you step outdoors. Follow the same precaution when using public transport. Not wearing a face mask can land you with a fine of Dh1,000 in Dubai.

4. Only two passengers in a taxi

Taxis in Dubai also have a barrier between the driver and the passengers.

5. Hand sanitisers and gloves

Wear gloves and use a hand sanitiser.

Always wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water when you arrive at your destination.
