Dubai: To support visitors heading to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during the final ten days of Ramadan, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) has introduced several services and facilities. These measures are designed to improve traffic flow and ensure smooth mobility around the mosque, particularly during Taraweeh prayers and late-night gatherings in the closing days of Ramadan.

Free public buses

To make travel easier for worshippers, Abu Dhabi Mobility has launched 10 free bus services connecting Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with the Bus Interchange in Al Rabdan. This service will operate throughout Ramadan, offering a regular schedule to ensure smooth and safe transportation. The initiative aims to cater to worshippers, especially during busy prayer times, by providing a reliable and efficient travel experience.

Traffic management

Abu Dhabi Mobility has introduced several measures to manage traffic and improve safety around the mosque. Roads surrounding Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and key intersections will be monitored using digital surveillance cameras. These systems will help detect traffic congestion or emergencies, allowing for quick responses to ensure traffic continues to move smoothly.

To assist visitors with parking, mobile electronic signs will be placed in strategic locations to guide motorists to designated parking areas. Fixed electronic variable message signs (VMS) around the mosque will display directional messages, helping drivers navigate efficiently and find the best available routes.

Additionally, field inspectors will be stationed at traffic signals and intersections near the mosque to manage traffic flow and address any issues faced by road users during peak prayer times. Road Service Patrol (RSP) units and towing services will also be deployed to quickly clear any incidents that may cause delays, ensuring the area remains safe and traffic continues to move efficiently.

Increased taxi services

To meet the rising demand for taxis during Ramadan, Abu Dhabi Mobility has allocated 100 taxis daily to serve visitors heading to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. During the final ten days of Ramadan, when visitor numbers are expected to peak, the number of available taxis will be increased to ensure transport services can meet the higher demand.

These comprehensive measures aim to ensure a smooth and safe experience for visitors to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during the holy month.
