1. So food won't go waste: Someone's got to polish off all those fat-loaded, spicy, carb-filled dishes made in the restaurant's kitchen, right?

2. To keep the waiters and waitresses fit: Five days of no working out is a long break — very unhealthy! So at least two days of the week they should be on their feet running around.

3. So we can do our bit to help the owners: Surely the rents for those fancy, fine-dining restaurants must be astronomically high. Pause to think of the restaurant owners and make life a little easier for them by eating at their outlets.

4. To make your wife happy: Would you really want her to spoil her freshly French-manicured hands by cooking?

5. To appreciate the invigorating silence in your kitchen: Listening to the clinking and clunking of utensils and cutlery in your kitchen can be stressful. Avoid it.

6. To give your taste buds a treat: It's not right to deprive them of all those lip-smacking varieties of food.

7. To take a well-deserved break: Haven't you been working hard for five gruelling days? It shouldn't harm if you indulge for just one day.

8. To do your bit for the environment: Think of how much you will contribute to reducing noise pollution when you give your crockery, cutlery, pots and pans a break for a day.

9. So you can catch up with the latest news: Family outings are an important time to bond, gossip and get all the latest updates on other people's lives.

10. To really recognise the fact that a home-cooked meal is truly the best. This is particularly true when it comes to the impact on your wallet.
