She knows me best

Most of us have or had that special friend, be it a girl or boy, whom we tell EVERYTHING.

Chatting all day long and fighting over petty things and being jealous when your best friend gets close to someone else.

Because being your best friend meant that she/he must tell you everything and that you are his/her ONLY friend.

Pooja Unni and Gayathri Sridharan are two such friends who are very possessive of each other and don't allow anyone to get between their friendship.

Gayathri Sridharan: Just a few minutes ago we were fighting over a mug. My father had bought it for me and I forgot to show it to Pooja.

Small fights

But we don't have any major fights. All our fights are over small things.

Like I would get angry if Pooja would tell a secret to another friend and not me. We tell each other everything. As soon as I get back from university the first thing I do is call Pooja and we chat for hours. I miss her when we don't talk for a day.

It is funny that we became friends a month before I was leaving Dubai.

I was in grade nine and very unhappy. I would sit in the back of the bus and cry. Pooja was the bus monitor and we lived in adjacent buildings.

Losing touch

A month before I left Dubai, Pooja came up to me in the bus and asked me why I was so sad. And we clicked. But then we lost touch. We didn't call or mail each other while I was away.

But our friendship picked up again when I returned last year. It was as if me and Pooja had never been apart.

Once I was really sick and I couldn't get out of bed. I was alone in the apartment and the door was locked. Somehow Pooja managed to get into the house. She carried me out of bed and to her house.

She fed me, gave me medicine and took care of me until my mother came back in the evening.

Pooja Unni: Gayathri is cool while I am very hot tempered. If I make fun of her, she smiles and accepts it. On the other hand, if she makes fun of me I get angry.

Different

We are very different from each other, which is why we are so perfect together.

Gayathri can always calm me down when I get angry. At times when I have fought with my mother, Gayathri is the only one who can calm me down.

Understanding

She also understands me better than anyone else. Sometimes she knows what is wrong just from my voice.

We are always together and thankfully our families are also friends. My father doesn't like me to go out a lot, but he will allow me to go anywhere if she is with me.

We don't really do anything except talk to each other all day long. We gossip and talk about the things we have done during the day. Chatting, chatting, chatting that's what we do all day and enjoy doing.
