Riza Santos replaces Marian Rivera

Marian Rivera has been replaced by Riza Santos in a new movie starring Dolphy and Vic Sotto. The Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate received the biggest break of her budding showbiz career with her inclusion in the film starring two of the brightest stars in Philippine showbusiness. Marian allegedly begged off from the project owing to her tight schedule for Dyesebel.

If things go as planned, Riza will be making her film debt as the onscreen partner of Vic Sotto, who is infamous for dating his love interests in the movies. Riza says she is not worried about being linked to Vic since the actor is very much in love with newscaster and talk show host Pia Guanio.

Ooops

Katrina Halili's upcoming soap is not Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, as reported in our last column. It is Magdusa Ka, a remake of the film that affirmed Dina Bonnevie's stature as a dramatic actress when it was shown years back. We thank a Showbiz Tsismis reader for pointing this out.

Hero's comeback

Faded TV star to play role in Dyesebel

Former Star Circle Quest grand winner Hero Angeles will be making his television comeback via the fantasy series Dyesebel starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
After so many missed attempts, Hero is finally back in showbiz after a bitter falling out with his former studio and handlers. In the past he was considered one of the most promising young stars in the business, but Hero's star has since faded into oblivion. All that is set to change now, after he landed the juicy role in the highly anticipated TV series.

Incidentally, Hero's former screen partner Sandara Park is trying her luck in Korea, where she was born, and has recently appeared in a music video. It looks like Hero's and Sandara's fates are still intertwined after all.

Not all rosy

Movie star Ruffa Mae admits she has struggled with her rollercoaster love life

Despite her bubbly appearance and a glowing personality, Ruffa Mae told our Manila mole that life has not been all rosy. Although probably at the peak of her career with ongoing top-rating television programmes, and soon-to-be-shown movies, the sexy comedienne admits she has struggled with certain issues, such as the nagging concern about her mum's wayward ways and her rollercoaster love affairs.

Another battleground looming for Mae is the forthcoming homecoming of former boyfriend Dingdong Avanzado and wife Jessa Zaragoza, with whom Mae had a televised spat recently.

Mae refused to take back what she said about her relationship with Dingdong many years back and said she will not back down if Jessa rekindles their feud.

Cat fight

As far as Mae is concerned, she's not the one whose star has faded and is in need of publicity to promote the release of a new album. Ouch!
