Karl Wolf wins MTV Arabia Best New Act
Karl Wolf, R&B singer, songwriter and producer raised in Dubai, has won the “Best MTV Arabia New Act'' and will be heading to the UK to perform at the EMAs (MTV's European Music Awards), one of the most prestigious music awards in the world.
Fans across the globe have been voting for the Wolf to represent the Middle East talent in Liverpool on November 6, 2008. Karl, who is signed to EMI Music Arabia won over other regional Arabian acts such as Abri, Carole Samaha, Fayez, and Mohammed Hamaki to take the local crown.
Announced only yesterday, another EMI artist Katy Perry debuts as the host for the 2008 MTV Awards. Katy Perry has also been double-nominated for Best New Act & Most Addictive track. Every year MTV invites leading names from the world of celebrity and music to step up onto the stage to present awards to the winners. For the fifteenth MTV Europe Music Awards the presenters will include Grace Jones, Solange Knowles – sister of Beyoncé who is both peforming and nominated at this year's ceremony - Sugababes, Tiziano Ferro, Tokio Hotel –nominated for Best Act Ever - and Travis from Gym Class Heroes.
Karl is celebrating his recent win in Canada with his friends and family and wanted to express his thanks to his fans worldwide for supporting him:

His recent huge success in Japan has catapulted Karl's musical career into another dimension having shared the international chart's top spots with the likes of Madonna and Coldplay. Japanese fans are hungry for the Wolf!
After years of producing and composing for other artists, in 2005 Karl decided that it was time to focus on his own music.He wrote and produced all the songs on his debut album Face Behind the Face, playing virtually all the instruments himself. In 2007 Karl won a Sounds of Blackness Award (SOBA) as the “Best R&B/Soul Artist of the Year'' and was also nominated for a 2007 Juno Award for “Best R&B/Soul Recording''. Early in 2008 Face Behind The Face hit Gold status in the Middle East.
In 2007 EMI Arabia released Karl's second album Bite The Bullet. The first single from the album “Africa'' is an infectious Toto track, adapted and styled with Karl's musical charm. The single featuring Canadian Rapper ‘Culture' took the airwaves by storm. It was this track that captured the interest of massive music markets such as Japan and paved the way for Karl to win “MTVa's Best New Act 2008''.
