In style: Be bold
Experiment with patterns and prints — choose from polka dots, houndstooth and stripes or opt for abstract designs
Strong patterned prints have been big news for the past few months.
First came stripes, with the ubiquitous Breton top dominating the summer months, next the polka dots championed by Marc Jacobs and Diane Von Furstenberg hit fashion headlines and then came avant garde geometrics with the success of Mary Katrantzou's surreal, angular prints.
The latest pattern to add to the growing list is dogtooth (or houndstooth). Stella McCartney and Salvatore Ferragamo have all recently showed the print. Celebrity fans include Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Gaga, who arrived at an American chat show decked out in dogtooth before jumping on a piano and stool also covered in the print to perform.
You don't have to go the whole hog like Gaga, it is a fairly easy pattern to wear, especially at work, and can be jazzed up with colourful accessories. Try our selection from the styles available in the UAE.
