Kenzo x H&M

It’s finally here! The latest designer collaboration between the Swedish high-street giant and high fashion arrives in stores globally — including the UAE. Doors open at 8am on November 3 at Mall of the Emirates, The Dubai Mall, City Centre Mirdif and Yas Mall (guys — the 42-piece men’s collection will be at The Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates only). So what’s this colourful, print-heavy collection all about? It’s the work of Kenzo’s creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the US designers behind the super-cool Opening Ceremony. Their suggestion to H&M? Celebrate the history of Kenzo, the brand founded in Paris by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada, by recreating iconic pieces from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s with Lim and Leon’s modern streetwear vibe, and H&M prices (well — kind of. Some pieces go beyond the Dh2,000 mark). Here are some of our favourites from the 38-piece women’s collection (which has an additional 26 accessories). Skirt, Dh499, and coat-dress, Dh699; off-the-shoulder top, Dh299, and wide-leg trousers, Dh999; bomber jacket, Dh1,499, jeans, Dh499, and shirt, Dh399.

LE66

We have a taste of Paris at Citywalk 2 this week, and I don’t mean more macaroons. A Parisian multi-brand concept store called LE66 opened on Tuesday with a range of men and women’s clothing and accessories from 150 brands — many of them not available elsewhere. It’s the third store in the region, after Beirut and Riyadh. Brands include Sandy Liang, Maison Kitsune (a Franco-Japanese record label that branched out into clothing), Bahraini sisters Ameena and Asma Khalid Saif’s AKS label, sneakers by National Standard and eveningwear from Keepsake. If you’re peckish, a home-grown restaurant, Roux, will be opening next door. The store is open 10am-10pm (until midnight on weekends).

Through The Lens

This weekend is your last chance to see the collab between Dubai Design Week and Galeries Lafayette. This window display, the second time The Dubai Mall department store has worked with DDW, is on show until November 6, and showcases the work of four artists on the theme of Through The Lens using various forms of design interior, fashion and urban.

Bil Arabi for Emirates

Emirates is partnering with a Dubai-based creative for the second time, and we’re big fans (last time it was illustrator Hatty Pedder). To celebrate the two events that showcase the UAE spirit — November 3 is Flag Day and December 2, UAE National Day, the Dubai-based airline worked with Nadine Kanso, the designer behind the Bil Arabi range of jewellery (the name means “in Arabic”). This year is a celebration for Kanso, too — her brand’s tenth year of business. The three pieces are a mug (Dh40), a plate (Dh100) and a stationery set (Dh70). Find it at Emirates Official Stores in Dubai and at emiratesofficialstore.com
