White may have dominated the runway, and the afterparty, but there was no surrender in the collection Splash showed for spring-summer. The UAE's own high-street retailer presented its latest looks and collections on Friday night at the Madinat Arena, proving yet again that when it comes to putting a well-attended event together, Splash has it down season after season.
Some of the clothes were visually striking. Expect lots of checks when this range hits stores.
For her: Lace and ruffles. Long, flowing dresses and figure-hugging sheaths. Cheeky shorts and girly tops. Clunky platforms, inspired heels and flats.
The menswear shown harks back to simpler times, evoking pastoral scenes with relaxed shorts, rolled up pants and shirts perfect for showcasing toned upper bodies. The gladiator sandals might be passe, but showing off ankles in a lace-less brogue-based shoe is sure to be around for a while.
While the collection wasn't wholly revolutionary, the local retailer was bang on trend delivering comfortable looks that are still fresh. High street isn't known for being too edgy, but the latest Splash collection is far from staid.
