Applications are now open for the second Style.com/Arabia and Dubai Design and Fashion Council’s Fashion Prize. And this year, the prize will also cover accessory designers.

Launched last year, the winner will receive a financial production grant, the opportunity to produce a capsule collection for sale on Farfetch.com as well as being picked for boutiques such as Browns in London, Curve in the US and Al Ostoura from Kuwait.

Last year, 200 women’s ready-to-wear designers from 15 countries across the Arab world applied. Lebanese designer Hussain Bazaza was picked as the winner of the inaugural prize. The 2016 winner will be announced in the autumn.

“The introduction of our Accessory Design category allows the Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize to engage with and show our commitment to a broader range of emerging designers, creating yet another gateway for regional talent to showcase their work,” said Nez Gebreel, CEO of the Dubai Design and Fashion Council. “Accessory design is particularly strong within the Arab world and we look forward to fostering the next generation of accessory designers.”

Gebreel will be part of the selection committee this year along with Caterina Minthe, the managing editor of Style.com/Arabia; Jose Neves, the CEO of Farfetch; Patrick Chalhoub, the CEO of the Chalhoub Group and designers Roland Mouret and Zuhair Murad.
