Okay... this takes gore and some guts to admit… I have always had this thing for Akshay Kumar. Please don't get me wrong here. I am not a fan of the Dostana type of arrangements, nor am I burning with jealousy. Instead, this guy has me in a daze of pure unadulterated admiration.

Why? Well because he can cut potatoes in mid-air for one. Or at least, have the bravado to attempt it in the latest promo cuts of his movie Chandni Chowk to China.

I take eons doing mine – potatoes that is... and have invested in all sorts of contraptions sold from that stall in Global Village, in pursuit of an easier method of cutting potatoes.

And Akshay doesn't shy away from some scare tactics too, he can even throw in a Jackie Chan-meets-Bruce Lee kick, totally ensuring that the potatoes are overwhelmed, scared and persuaded to come out in the shape that he had in mind. Potato chips with karate chops. Impressive!

And he can sing too while at it, an aptly titled Everything's Gonna Be Alright, further ensuring that his wedges are going to be 'alright'. That's the title of the track for which he has written the lyrics in the animation flick Jumbo. Now isn't there anything that this man cannot do?

Of worthy mention here is the fact that Akshay apparently waited on tables or did some shifts as a chef in Bangkok during his days of struggle and I am sure that his training does come in handy when he makes his aloo gobi.

And what did you think I was envious of him for? For the fact that he is currently the number one star in Bollywood? Romancing Katrina Kaif? For being the man with the Midas touch or for his physique that belies age? Nah!

So until next week when I get to catch this newest caper at the nearest theatre, I am signing off to master the art of the potato wafer. Eehawwww!
