Your Complaint: Maintaining balance

Reader raises complaint with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB)

Last updated:

I have a loan with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) since 2008 and was informed that the maintaining balance is not required since I cannot meet the Dh5000 minimum balance with them. Just imagine if you have a monthly salary of Dh8000 and paying them Dh3000 a month on your loan, what about my other dues such as paying for their credit card, basic needs and so on. Ordinary expatriates like me cannot meet that. They should at least put some exemptions to their rule, for those clients who have a loan with them with salary transfer. If they are thinking that some expatriates might run away and do not pay their loans, it is totally unfair if the mistake of others should be shouldered by the innocent ones. I already called and emailed them.
From Ms Editha Malonzo, Abu Dhabi

The management of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) responds:
Please be advised that our Quality Unit have contacted the customer and informed that her request to reverse the ARP charged (Dh30) cannot be endorsed due to the new regulations of Service Fees that were circulated to all customers since July 2009 through official letters and SMS that were sent to the customers and announced as well on the ADCB website. Case is closed now and the customer understood the final outcome.
