Honking horns disturb residents and hospital patients

Valet parking is common in many places, but each firm does things in their own way when it comes to their parking system.

They don’t apply the latest technology or have a scientific method, which can be a real nuisance to the public.

I work in an office near a hospital on Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, in Abu Dhabi, which provides valet parking services to its customers.

The hospital parking service attendants park the cars either in the hospital’s underground parking or in the underpass parking area nearby.

The underground parking area’s gate is controlled by a remote electronic system controlled by an operator in the front of the hospital.

Usually the customers drive up to the front door and honk their horns to signal the operator to open the gate. Each and every car sounds its horn to draw the attention of the operator, which makes the area noisy and creates a lot of noise pollution. Drivers continuously honk their horns until the gate opens. They forget that it is a hospital where patients are trying to recover from illness and that there are residents in nearby buildings.

When the operator fails to open the gate, not only do the drivers frequently use their car’s horns, but they also cause road blocks.

The aforementioned road only allows for one-way traffic, but people ignore this and the traffic violation regularly causes difficulties.

I would be grateful if the concerned authorities could look into this matter and take appropriate steps to control the noise pollution in this area.
