Remember that old, rusty estate your dad used to drive you to school in and embarrass you in front of all your friends with? Well, these days, kids won’t have that problem if pops rocks up in this — the Jaguar XF Sportbrake.

Ian Callum has clearly used his magical touch on this attractive estate that will go up against the likes of the new Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5 Series Touring and Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake when it goes on sale towards the end of 2012.

This prototype, spotted in Coventry, is obviously disguised but there’s no hiding that sleek looking rear end and ever so stylish C-pillars. Add the fact it has LED lights like the ones on the XF saloon and the Sportbrake becomes quite a tasty proposition.

No official word on what will power it but expect the 3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 in NA and supercharged guise.
