With conspiracy theories floating, Judy Ann Santos is feeling the heat of her power endorsement

The controversy about electricity rates has spilled over into the world of showbiz.

"Don't shoot the messenger" was the comment from Judy Ann Santos' camp after the superstar appeared in a controversial infomercial explaining the ridiculous price a private power firm is charging from Filipino consumers.

Some activist groups have even floated the idea of boycotting Santos' films and products she endorsed because of her appearance in the commercial.

Highest

Electricity rates in the Philippines are the highest in Asia, and allegations of overcharging have been made against the private power distributor, which also happens to be the sister company of Santos' home studio.

Conspiracy

The actress is said to be depressed about the backlash resulting from her endorsement. There are rumours that it was a ploy concocted by Santos' detractors to discredit her.

There are many conspiracy theories floating around, which have only strained Santos' worsening ties with her home studio.

Speculation is increasing that she might transfer to the rival network when her existing contract expires.

Monster blockbuster

Trailers for the forthcoming comedy Monster Mom, featuring the real-life mother-daughter team of former Miss World First Princess Ruffa Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama are now showing in public theatres.

The consensus is that the movie is going to be a monster hit, with Anabelle stealing the spotlight from her equally popular and controversial daughter.

When asked if she would be willing to do a sequel, Rama said, "Only when I get paid as much as Ruffa."

Don't take away my Sunshine

Reports say that Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz are on the verge of split

Showbiz couple Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano may soon be in splitsville after Cruz filed a libel suit against her sister-in-law.

Cruz alleges Ched Manhilot, Montano's sister, has been defaming her on the social networking site Friendster, saying nasty things about her past and her rumoured secret liaison.

Our Manila mole spoke to Sunshine briefly on the phone and asked whether this is going to affect her marriage, and she said: "It may or may not. I leave it up to Cesar to decide on that."

For his part, Montano has said through his publicist that he loves both his wife and sister dearly and wish they would stop the bickering for the sake of the family.
