10 Things I hate about shopping

We all have our personal lists – of the zaniest/quirkiest/
funniest/ craziest/smartest ... We devote this page to them.

This week, Stephanie Neville is a Dubai-based artist, lists ...

Clothes hangers: Who invented these anyway? Most of the time, the clothes fall off hangers when you rifle through the rails. Also, you can't get the pants off the clips or the clothes back on them when you are done [fitting].

Trying on clothes: The whole process of taking shoes and clothes off to try the new ones on is so irritating and time-consuming! I usually try everything over the outfit I'm wearing and don't take my shoes off, only to get my feet stuck in trouser legs!

Changing rooms: These are usually too busy, too small and too smelly! And I hate it when other people leave behind the clothes they were trying on. I wonder what those small number tags are for when they don't check your items. And what's up with the small curtains that never fit the doorframe?
Carrying shopping bags: If you do go on a spree, there is nothing more annoying than carrying bags from shop to shop. And then they start to cut into your fingers, you can't browse through things any more or rummage through your bag for your car keys.

Queuing up to pay: Why do people always ask if you want to have anything else? If I did, I would have got it before I stood in the queue for 20 minutes to pay!

Chaos during sales: I always avoid sale days. The chaos of modern women being turned into primeval ravenous scavengers is just too sick to watch, and too scary to attempt to enter.

Sizes: Why can't it all just be universal? It's hard enough trying to keep up with my ever-changing body size to figure out what country I'm in, where the clothes are made or where the designer is from!

Shop assistants: It's the little puppy dog effect that's the most annoying, when they follow you from rail to rail. It's fun sometimes zig-zagging on purpose through the shop hoping they will get tired and give up!

Receipts: My wallet is stuffed with paper (of the wrong kind). And you will lose the one that you need eventually.

Return policies: The first annoyance is that you have to go through the whole process of shopping all over again! Then, you didn't read the small print, you are either too late to return, or you lost your receipts!
