There's a place in the sun for everyone: When you are in a queue at the bus station around lunchtime, the bus doesn't arrive and the cabs don't wait, that's when you realise there surely is a place in the sun for us all!

Parting is sweet sorrow: Letting go of your children to study abroad is always difficult but parents take comfort in the fact that a good education equals a good life ahead.

All in a day's work: We often pack so much into a day. It's a mad rush to meet deadlines, to plan our tomorrows even before they dawn. This is the reality of life.

To make ends meet: For those who live a modest life in Dubai, like me, we strive to meet our basic needs as well as other needs in Maslow's hierarchy. But considering the high cost of living, to make ends meet is the daily litany.

Nothing is free: You can get a free mobile in the latest credit card promo but still you have to pay for the yearly dues on your card. Then there are the 'Buy one get one for free' promotions. Put simply, nothing is for free.

Never forget that you are unique, just as everybody else is: Amid the cultural diversity in Dubai, you get to mix with people of different cultures, attitudes, working styles, fashion sense and accents. Each one of them is unique, just like you and me are. Just enjoy the beauty of diversity.

You will always be in my heart: You may leave Dubai and move on, but the experiences (you had here) will always warm your heart.

No pain, no gain: There are call targets to achieve for telesales, deadlines to beat, deals to close ... I guess this is the rule of life. No skinned knees, no victory ... just keep going.

Life goes on: It sure does, it goes on and on and on ... for you and me.
