Mission Possible
Test your skills at the indoor Laserdrome located at Dubai Autodrome if you fancy yourself a secret agent. With groups of up to 10 players per team, you can choose from a variety of tactical games set against a medieval backdrop. Equipped with a laser gun and a body pad, you’ll be given a hero’s name and a team colour. You’ll have a few minutes to strategise on how to emulate and destroy the enemy’s base before the lights go out and the battle begins, spruced up with smoke machines and music.

Day at the museum
Learn a thing or two about the country you live in by touring the museums of the UAE. Here are five worth visiting.
- Qasr Al Hosn museum (Entry: free) Traces the political history of Abu Dhabi’s Rulers from 1795-1966.
- The Fujairah Museum (Dh5) Hosts archaeological exhibits and showcases the heritage of local inhabitants.
- The Umm al Quwain museum (Dh4 for 15 years or older.) Gives a rare insight into the history of the region.
- The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation (Dh5 for adults; Dh10 for family) Displays rare artefacts from the advent of Islam to the present.
- The Dubai Museum (Dh3 for six years or above; Dh1 for those under six) Located in Al Fahidi Fort in Bur Dubai. Amongst other things, it features artefacts from excavated graves in the country from the 3rd millennium B.C.
Fun on wheels
Head to Ibn Battuta Mall for ‘Roller Extreme’, the UAE’s first ever roller rink where you can test your skills or roll your way around the series of themed nights, which include a medley of music, games and competitions. Roller Extreme will be held at Ibn Battuta Mall until August 14.

Go climbing
Test your climbing skills at The Pharaoh Club’s indoor 50ft climbing wall. While not as intense as outdoor climbing, indoor climbing gives you an ultimate goal that is guided by specifically marked handholds. All ages and skill levels are welcome but make sure to wear comfortable clothing. Other equipment such as helmet, harness, ropes and clips will be provided at the venue.

Cruise calling
Why not see Dubai from a different angle and go cruising with Bateaux Dubai? A 56-metre glass-cased boat will take you along Dubai Creek while you are served gourmet meals and entertained with live music. Take a partner or bring friends along; it’s a dining experience where you can enjoy the outdoors whilst staying cool and snug indoors.

Snuggle up
Love a good movie but bored by the offerings at mainstream cinemas? Check out The Scene Club, the UAE’s first official film club. As an initiative of Dubai International Film Festival and D-Seven Motion Pictures, the venue will showcase independent films on a monthly basis in order to raise awareness of independent international films.
