Whether you are looking for a little relaxation treat or want to completely reset and re-energise your body, the Dahlia Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi on Maryah Island has something that suits everyone’s needs.

From the moment you enter the spa’s premises you start to feel like you have entered a different world, one with no tension and full of wellness. Every detail, from the mixture of wooden and marble floors, the intimate lighting, the relaxing music and the sounds of water in the background has been carefully designed to create a calming atmosphere.

For our treatment we opted for the 50 minute Dahlia massage for couples, a full body massage that can be tailored to an individual’s preference and needs. Perfect recipe for girls’ day out or a treat with your loved one.

First stop was a short consultation to determine what type of experience we were looking for and what massage techniques and pressures as well as which oils would be best suited to get the results we wanted.

If like us you find yourself somewhat uncertain and overwhelmed about what to choose from the six various massages available, which include relaxation, energising, balancing, de-stressing muscle pain, revitalising the energy flow from the body, or stimulating the body organs, don’t worry, the super friendly staff will guide you through them. You can even combine your favourites as we did.

For our massage we chose a combination of Balinese massage, to relax the mind and body, and Asian fusion, which uses Filipino and Malay traditional techniques to de stress muscle pains. We also chose two oils, from six available, Serenity and Fitness oils, which have a calming and warming effect.

The couple’s therapy room was a large space, with two treatment beds in the middle, a full glass wall facing Al Maryah Island, and a cosy wooden interior. Our delightful therapists, Pat and Lina, prepared us for our massage in the room’s seating area with a foot ritual. The seemingly simple foot scrub in a large copper bowl using warm water single-handedly took out a chunk of our stress. The ritual is so relaxing that we found ourselves hoping it didn’t end but at the same time were super excited about what was to come.

The body massage was just what we had hoped for and more. It combined techniques such as stretching of body parts, relaxing massaging as well as deep tissue massaging. As the treatment ended we were left too chilled out to leave. Luckily we didn’t have to end our experience just yet, and were welcome to use Dahlia’s relaxing facilities which included a sauna, steam room, vitality pool with its own massage using powerful bubbles, and a relaxation room with heated seats. All our must tries.

One thing is for sure, once you step into Dahlia Spa it is very difficult to leave it, but when you do leave, you will feel completely brand new.

What we liked: The chilled out atmosphere, facilities, and super helpful staff.

What we didn’t like: 50 minutes was just too short.

Go for: A relaxing day with your other half, friend or just a treat for yourself.
