The Beauty Beat: What’s new in beauty

An everyday girl’s guide to make-up and skincare in the UAE

Here are some new launches and events in make-up and skincare that have caught our eye this week:

The beauty world is coming out of stores and Instagram accounts and landing at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai, for MyBeautyFest. Taking place on March 9 and 10, the event will be attended by influencers, bloggers and global beauty brands.

Instagram stars set to attend are Hrush Achemyan, a make-up artist who has worked with Khloe Kardashian and Kylie and Kendal Jenner; Kuwaiti fashionista Fouz Al Fahad; and Dubai-based siblings Sonia and Fyza Ali.

There will be meet and greets, masterclasses, panel discussions, entertainment and competitions.

General admission tickets (Dh150) and masterclass tickets (starting from Dh1,000) are available online. It’s open from 12-10pm on both days.

Lash boost

Super science-y French skincare brand Filorga is going to help you sort out your sparse eyelashes and brows with its latest product — Optim-Eyes Lashes and Brows treatment. Within 14 days, it’s supposed to provide a denser lash and 83 per cent more resistant lashes, among other things. It also makes brows 73 per cent thicker and silkier. Dh275 in leading pharmacies.

New lippies

Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Creme lipstick is back with a new formula and an expanded shade range, which is right in time for the bullet lipstick takeover. Yes, you heard it here first; we don’t need no liquid lipsticks anymore. There are 40 colours in three finishes: satin matte, glimmer and metallic. There’s also a new shade called White Out, which is an opaque white to mix with other colours. Dh95 at Sephora.
