For comedienne Eugene Domingo, it would be enough if her movie Ang Babae sa Septic Tank becomes one of the nominees for next year's Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.

She admits the competition is tough, having seen the other films. But she remains optimistic in an interview with tabloid!.

Ang Babae was recently screened at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. How do you feel?

Like a Hollywood star (laughs). I'm just kidding. This is a dream come true for me; I didn't even realise that this movie will take me this far.

The reaction after the screening was encouraging and uplifting; the energy was so high it took me a while to realise we really did a good job with this film. I always try to do my best, and the group I was with in this film was just a fantastic team.

Richard Kuipers from Variety magazine thinks you're terrific in this film. What's your reaction to this?

I'm very flattered and honoured. It's just another reason why I am so thankful I was able to do this film, and I am hoping to do more like this one in the years to come.

What are your expectations ahead of the announcement of the Academy Award nominees?

I have no expectations whatsoever, to be honest. I'm hoping we make it this year, but I have seen the competition and it's going to be tough.

The film from Iran has already won in Berlin and New York, although the Oscars will have a different jury and taste, you can never disregard the influence these two film-fests have. It would be enough if we're at least included in the list of nominees, that would be an achievement already.

But if nothing happens, I'm still thankful we entertained so many people, even those from outside the Philippines.

You have three entries to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. People are saying you are a shoo-in for the Best Actress award. Your thoughts?

For Shake, Rattle and Roll, yes and also the Best Supporting Actress award for Enteng ng Ina Mo (laughs). I don't have any illusion of winning two awards at the same film fest, or even just one.

I'm just happy I have films to make and roles to play. Awards and recognition is a bonus — you never do your job for those. You do it because you're happy.

Does Vic have a new lady love?

Sources close to comedian Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna say the two are officially an item.

Both are with the indomitable noontime show Eat Bulaga, where Sotto's ex-girlfriend, Pia Guanio, also happens to be a co-host. There seems to be no tension on the set, according to our sources.

One of the strongest clues that could confirm the story is that Luna is seen in a cameo role in an upcoming film Sotto stars in, Enteng ng Ina Mo, one of the entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. "Vic's girl always has a cameo role on his filmfest movie, always," says a source.

Ryan: Sorry's not the hardest word

Given the chance, Talentadong Pinoy host Ryan Agoncillo would still like to personally apologise to Marlon Ramos, a journalist with whom he had an altercation recently.

According to Ramos' tweets, Agoncillo was driving an unlicensed sports car when he almost rear-ended the van being driven by the journalist. The two had a verbal tussle and apparently did not part ways amicably.

Agoncillo found out about Ramos' tirades via Twitter. The actor and TV host publicly apologised to the journalist during a press conference for his movie with his wife, actress Judy Ann Santos, My House Husband, an entry to this month's Metro Manila Film Festival.

Cherry on top

Cherry Pie Picache considers her role in Isda (Fable of the Fish) which will have its second Dubai International Film Festival screening at the Mall of the Emirates today at 3pm, one of her best.

In the film by noted director Adolfo Alix, the award-winning actress plays the role of a woman who "miraculously" gave birth to a fish. Before Dubai, the film was screened to wide acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Another Filipino film, Crossfire, is in competition in Diff's Muhr Asia-Africa section along with six other films from Turkey, Iran, Singapore, Nigeria/Libya and South Africa.
