She is considered the darling of the Arab world's silver screen, however, Egyptian actress Yousra may have shot herself in the foot by publicly supporting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's regime.

Users on Facebook have launched an attack against the actress after she called a state-owned Egyptian television channel to publicly declare she considered Mubarak a "symbol of security".

As a result, a number of users hit out at Yousra accusing her of not even knowing what is going on in Egypt as she is reportedly living in London at the moment.

One Facebook user posted: "Yusra supports Mubarak, because she is amongst the filthy rich in Egypt, and does not suffer like the rest of the poor Egyptian population."

Tamer Hosny booed out

Is Tamer Hosny’s star no longer shining? The Egyptian pop star was booed out of Tahrir Square by demonstrators on Wednesday morning after he attempted to address the crowd.

According to some sources, the booing got so loud, the army had to fire shots in the air to calm demonstrators down. The incident comes after Hosny appeared on Egyptian state television urging demonstrators to go home.

Shortly afterwards, a video began circulating on Facebook and Twitter showing Hosny in tears, saying that people misunderstood him and he didn’t really know what was going on. But Twitter users have been less than complimentary about the singer, with one saying: “What did Tamer Hosny expect from Tahrir? That people would say: ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter that you betrayed us, now sing us a song?!’”

Khalid is still single

Khalid Ameen has denied rumours that he has married Bahraini actress Zahra Arafat (pictured). The Kuwaiti actor told reporters that the rumour was created after the duo were seen hanging out together after the filming of a television show in Cairo.

Ameen stressed that he does not intend to get married in the near future, but denied accusations that the failure of his first marriage had caused him psychological problems.

"I will marry again when the time is right and when I find the right woman. Like any other person, I dream of getting married and having a family," he said.

Elissa: A future WAG?

Elissa has drafted in footballer Christian Ulf Wilhelmsson to play her love interest in her upcoming music video.

Swedish midfielder Wilhelmsson, who currently plays with Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal, will appear with the Lebanese stunner to promote her latest single, W Byestehi (And He Gets Shy). However, it is not known why the singer chose him.

Meanwhile, Elissa, who arrived in Beirut last week after leaving Cairo due to demonstrations, has recorded a number of new songs with composer Mohammad Rahim for her upcoming album.

Al Sherei proud of the Egyptian youth

Ammar Al Sherei was rushed to hospital earlier this week after suffering a heart attack while demonstrating in Cairo.

According to media reports, the legendary singer-musician, who is visually impaired, was among the thousands of protesters in Tahrir Square in the Egyptian capital city.

Before arriving in Tahrir Square, Al Sherei had asked Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to step down in an interview with one of the Egyptian TV channels.

"I love President Mubarak, I supported him, and I even sang for him once. "However, I ask him now to please have mercy on the Egyptian people and leave. I am proud of the Egyptian youth for attempting to achieve change our generation never did," he said, choking back tears.

Film Review: La Taragoa Wala Esteslam makes a connection

Following on from summer box-office hits in 2008 and 2009, one of Egypt's brightest young stars, Ahmad Mekky, is back with his third major release.

La Taragoa Wala Esteslam (No Turning Back or Giving Up) was one of last summer's biggest hits in Egypt and, as with most Arabic movies, it finally makes an appearance in UAE cinemas a good six months later.

In this comedy-action flick, Mekky reunites with his co-star (and once rumoured real-life girlfriend) from 2009 film Teer Enta (Fly Away), Donia Sameer Ganem.

Taking on two roles, the actor plays Adham — a well-known drug dealer — and Hazlaom - a young man who's unemployed and loves the simple things in life.

Unfortunately, Adham is a wanted man by the head of police (played by Ezzat Abu Ouf), who recruits a young policeman (Maged Al Kidwany) to hunt Adham down. Hazlaom gets caught up in all of this mess of course, because he resembles Adham.

One of the best things about Mekky's films is that he really knows how to connect with audiences, bringing in a bunch of popular culture references that this generation of cinema-goers can relate to. Don't miss it.
