With her stunning looks and a TDF (to-die-for) body, Myriam Faris has finally done it – Come September, she takes a plunge into the world of movies.

When it comes to curls, curves and charm, nobody wears it better than Lebanese singer Myriam Faris. Her recent visit to Al Jabeer Optical showroom at Dubai Festival City gave us ample proof of the potency of the triple C formula among fans. But in all fairness, two questions (depending on one's gender) are likely to pop into one's mind in the presence of such perfection.

If you belong to the male order then you'll be lucky if you go beyond the "Wow, she is stunning!" phase and if you belong to the fair sex, then you may find yourself torn between asking whether this bodilicious beauty was the result of good sculpting from an able surgeon or what took her so long to join the world of cinema.

In an interview with e+, Faris sportingly answered all these questions. From plastic surgery to her plans to become an actress and the success of her new album, the singer handled our all our queries with admirable poise.

Riding high on being offered a film titled Hala Wal Malik (Hala And The King), Faris feels she could not have asked for a better big-screen launch.

"It's a big step for me and I hope my fans will like me in my new role. I feel honoured to be part of a film which is an adaptation of the famous play Hala And The King," she says.

The film will be directed by Hatem Ali and produced by Nader Al Atasi. The shooting of the film, that had legendary singer Fairouz in the title role will commence this September.

"I have always loved acting, so it was only natural that I would sign up for movies sooner or later. If you look at my music videos you will realise that I am no stranger to acting," she says.

Incidentally, Myriam, who made her debut in the music world in 2003, took her time before accepting film projects. "Until now, I was busy with concerts and promotions for my music albums. But now, when this offer came by, I could not resist taking it up," she says.

Having grown up on a staple of Hollywood movies, Fares rates Hollywood stars Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta Jones at the top of her list. Closer to her turf, legendary Arabic star Rushdi Abaza is one of her favourite screen idols.

Shun the scalpel?

It's no surprise that Myriam has been flooded with offers, considering her million-dirham smile and her killer body. Is her sculpted look the work of a surgeon?

"I am as natural as it comes. I have nothing against plastic surgery or the people who undergo operations. But I would never be one of them," she says with uncharacteristic firmness.

Nonetheless, we are inclined to take her vehement denial with a pinch of salt. What came next underlined the optimism that only a 20-something could carry off.

"I think beauty is not just about the way you look. It's about charisma and the attitude with which you carry yourself," she says.

Ironically, our probing into her chiselled looks was not the one that had her defences up. Say the name Shakira and you cannot help but detect the tired resignation in her voice.

"From the very beginning, I have been compared to her. Though I consciously try not to imitate her, it could be our dancing styles that make people draw comparisons," she says, shrugging.

Parallels aside, she is currently riding high on the success of her new album Bitool Eh (What Are You Saying?)

"I am very happy with its success. Though I cannot attribute it to a single person, I think my family, my fans, my record company and music management company were instrumental in its success," she says.

With fortune in her favour, it is evident that Faris is waiting eagerly for September to start on the shooting of her first film and prove she's more than just a pretty voice.

Myriam's moments

  • The singers that I idolise are Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce.
  • The qualities that appeal to me in a man are his personality and wit.
  • I start my day off with a hearty breakfast with my mom. Since I am on the road a lot, spending time with my family is my top priority.
