After attacking Vidya Balan publicly some months ago, Shahid Kapoor is at it again, only now he is waging war against Kangna Ranaut. The actor has allegedly been going around town claiming that she is ‘insane'. He is even threatening to have her kicked out of his upcoming project Ranjhana — a love story directed by Anand Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame. It's obvious that Kangna isn't an angel to deal with, but everyone is wondering why Shahid is reacting so violently towards her.
"Shahid's all out to malign Kangna's reputation. He's calling her a tantrum queen and wants her thrown out of the film. He claims she's eerie and finds her uncomfortable to be around. He's pressurising Anand to get rid of her despite knowing the director owes the success of his first film (Tanu Weds Manu) to Kangna," says an insider.
There's no doubt that her recent fiasco with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn, during the making of Rascals, has placed her firmly in everyone's bad books. But for someone like Shahid Kapoor (who is known to be Mr Tantrum King himself) to demand that Kangna be kicked out because she throws tantrums, is shocking to one and all.
In fact, a director who prefers not to be named, stated clearly, "Shahid is a terror to work with. The tantrums thrown by him single-handedly will outdo those thrown by many actresses combined."
The director added: "During the making of Badmaash Company, Shahid argued with first-time director Parmeet Sethi because of a silly white vest. Shahid refused to wear it because it apparently ‘didn't project him in the right way'. And on the sets of Dil Bole Hadippa, he locked himself in his vanity van for four hours because he didn't like the climax of the film."
Career-wise, he's not had a hit since Kaminey in 2009. "It's clear that Shahid is acting out of panic and jealousy because he feels Kangna will overshadow him in the movie," says an insider.
