The annual Gulf Film Festval (GFF), which celebrates films from and by people in the Gulf, has been postponed. The festival was set to open for six days on April 9 at Ductac (Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre).
“We regret to inform you that the seventh edition of The Gulf Film Festival has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We would like to thank friends and partners of the Festival for their continuous support and we will announce the new Festival dates in due course,” said a statement sent out by organisers.

On Saturday, a press conference to reveal the festival’s line-up was cancelled at the last minute.
GFF, which was launched in 2008, is organised by the same people behind the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff), and have, over the years, been a platform for aspiring Gulf filmmakers to be seen and heard.
“The seventh edition of the Gulf Film Festival demonstrates the significant growth of the industry in the Middle East, these films are compelling and thought-provoking, masterfully telling the stories of the people through the art of cinema,” said GFF director Masoud Amralla Al Ali, who is also the artistic director of Diff, in an earlier statement.
