A period film, a comic entertainer and a fan’s tale battle at the box office this Vishu, a Hindu festival celebrated in Kerala.

With Dileep playing a 94-year-old in Kammara Sambhavam and Jayaram sporting a clean look with a tonsured head in Panchavarnathatha, the festival brings an interesting mix of films.

Kammara Sambhavam is a period film set in the pre-independence era and directed by ad filmmaker Ratish Ambat. Murali Gopi has written the story. While Dileep and Tamil actor Siddharth play the leads, there is an ensemble cast that includes Bobby Simha, Murali Gopi, Shwetha Menon and Namitha Pramod.

Ambat says the story is a mix of history, politics and films. Both Dileep and Siddharth sport three different looks.

Panchavarnathatha is Ramesh Pisharody’s debut directorial. Jayaram plays the lead with Kunchako Boban. The supporting cast includes Anusree, Salim Kumar and Dharmajan Bolgatty.

Meanwhile, the third movie is one for Mohanlal fans. Sajid Yahiya, who made his directorial debut with IDI - Inspector Dawood Ibrahim, returns with another entertainer titled Mohanlal. Going by the title and trailers, this is a fan’s story. Manju Warrier plays Meenukutty, a Mohanlal fan. Indrajit Sukumaran plays her onscreen husband.
