After working together on a zombie film, Tamil director Shakti Soundararajan and actor Jeyam Ravi are back with another adventure story, taking viewers to outer space.

Tik Tik Tik is about happens when an asteroid comes crashing into the town of Ennore one night.

Analysing the damage, scientists and astronauts realise that in the next seven days another asteroid, of a much larger dimension with the power to annihilate the lives of many, is bound to hit the country. As questions rage back and forth, a trained magician and escape artist is brought into the rescue mission.

Ravi plays the magician. The supporting cast includes Nivetha Pethuraj, Vincent Ashokan, Ramesh Tilak and Arjunan, who form the team of astronauts. Singaporean actor Aaron Aziz makes his South Indian cinema debut.

“It was a completely different experience,” recalled Ravi. “Wearing heavy astronaut suits with added paraphernalia on the back. Walking was not an easy exercise.”

For one scene he was suspended from a rig with a circular ring around his hip and spun in mid-air.

“The ring crushes around the hip and it’s not possible to go for more than four shots,” he said.

However, it’s not just science dominating the story. At the core lies an emotional tale of a father and son bond. Ravi’s son Aarav makes his debut with Tik Tik Tik playing his onscreen son.

Tik Tik Tik, produced by Nemichand Jhabak, releases in UAE on June 21.
