Antony Verghese of Angamaly Diaries returns with this Malayalam film in a lead role.

When was the last time you watched a full length prison break story in Malayalam? Or, for that matter in any of the other south Indian languages.

Debutant director Tinu Pappachan’s Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil (Freedom at Midnight), which released in Kerala on March 23, is being called an engrossing thriller.

Based on newcomer Dileep Kurien’s script, this story is centered around an escape plan mooted by six prisoners. Verghese, who shot to fame with Angamaly Diaries as Vincent Pepe, plays Jacob — the man who masterminds this prison break.

The supporting characters include Vinayagan and Chemban Vinod Jose. Pappachan is a former assistant of Malayalam director Lijo Pellisery.
