The Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty will make his acting debut with Oru Kadhai Sollatuma, which is written and directed by Prasad Prabhakar. The film is also releasing in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam as The Sound Story.

The audio launch of the film’s music was held in Chennai recently with director Shankar and music composer A.R. Rahman in attendance. With this film, Pookutty said he has fulfilled a long nurtured dream of capturing the sounds of the annual Thrissur Pooram Hindu temple festival that is held in Kerala, with a performance of several hundred artists recorded live for the movie.

Shankar agreed, saying: “I have only seen only pictures of Pooram festival and was amazed when Resul explained to me the magnitude of the event. Had I known about the Pooram earlier, I could have used it in my films. Resul’s live recording of the Pooram is a historic event.

“Resul does not confine himself to the studio but makes all effort to go outside and record sounds for his films.”

The film soundtrack has two songs composed by Rahul Raj. Vairamuthu has written the Tamil lyrics, while Fouzia Abubacker has penned the Urdu lyrics and Sunitha Sarathy the English ones.

Oru Kadhai Sollatuma, is produced by Rajeev Panakal.
