With a title such as Kolamaavu Kokila and Nayanthara in the lead, audiences will know that there is more to this film than meets the eye.
The trailer of the upcoming the Tamil movie Kolamaavu Kokila (also called Coco) might remind viewers of the gullible Kadambari from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Nayanthara’s earlier film. Director Nelson Dilipkumar clarifies that Kokila is unlike Kadambari. The tag line — “story of smugglers” — hints at a thriller.
Nayanthara plays Kokila, who works in a massage parlour and is the bread winner for her family. The film explores what happens when this ordinary young woman finds herself in an extraordinary situation.
The supporting cast includes Saranya Ponvannan, R.S. Shivaji, Jacqueline, Yogi Babu, Mottai Rajendran and Malayalam actor Hareesh Peradi.
Nelson formerly worked in television. His first feature film Vettai Mannan with Simbu in the lead was shelved. Kolamaavu Kokila is his second.
Kolamaavu Kokila, produced by Lyca Productions, releases in the UAE on August 16.
