Tamil thriller film Metro explored the nexus of chain snatching in the city of Chennai revealing how young men with their craze for consumer goods got caught in this web.

Upcoming Tamil film Marainthirunthu Parkam Marmam Enna, directed by debut filmmaker Rahesh, explores the same theme.

What makes it completely different from Metro is that the story is told from the perspective of the victims of chain snatching, said Rahesh, former assistant of director Mohan Raja.

“There is a message that alerts women on personal safety,” said Rahesh.

Dhruva plays the lead — he is Ayappan, a gas cylinder deliver boy. Saranya Ponvannan is Ayappan’s onscreen mother. Aishwarya Dutta is paired opposite Dhruva. Other cast members include Radha Ravi, Mime Gopi, Manobala and Aruldas.

Achu Rajamani is the music composer. P.G. Muthiah is the cinematographer.
