Rising Pakistani singer Arsalan Hassan recently played his first Dubai gig and is ready for more concerts in the UAE.

Lahore-based Hassan, 22, said he has held meetings with event organisers regarding potential trips to Dubai and elsewhere in the UAE, especially as colleges and schools in the UAE will be reopening in September after the summer break.

Hassan recently held a number of private shows and one public performance in the Marina area.

The musician, who has signed with US-based music rights organisation BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), also revealed to Gulf News tabloid! that he will be releasing more singles soon. However, he did not wish to divulge more details at this time.

BMI represents artists such as Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Hassan said he is the only Pakistani to be represented internationally by BMI.

Hassan, who has previously released a single called Umeed (Hope), added that he is also working on a “collaboration” in Pakistan with US fashion band Levi’s.

“Dubai was wonderful, better than I expected,” Hassan said about his experience. “The love and support I got here was unbelievable. I would love to play again in Dubai — not just Dubai, but Abu Dhabi and Sharjah too.”

Hassan is currently enjoying his time in Dubai, where he will stay until Wednesday. He is visiting relatives here and will spend a few days of Eid Al Adha here before leaving for Pakistan to enjoy the rest of the festive period.

Besides singing and music, Hassan has a passion for numbers. He is studying in Pakistan to be a chartered accountant, after acing his A-Levels.

“There’s really no time left for me to pursue other interests [besides music and studies]. But if I do get a chance, I like to watch thriller and mystery TV shows and movies,” he said.

Hassan’s tryst with music began when he was just three years old, when he received a toy piano as a birthday gift. He is self-taught and mainly plays the piano, guitar and drums, besides singing (which he also learned on his own).
