Despite the fact that Abhishek Bachchan has been heaping praise on his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s performance in this week’s release Sarbjit, he simply didn’t seem happy at the premiere of the film in Mumbai on Wednesday.

As the star-studded affair saw everyone from the Bachchans and the Rais to Ali Fazal and Manish Paul attending, in a video gone viral one can see a grumpy Bachchan walking the red carpet.

Posted by the online magazine Lehren, Bachchan is seen escorting his family to the venue, even holding hands with Aishwarya. But after posing for a few minutes he walks off, not acknowledging Aishwarya’s request to stay on the carpet to be photographed. Aishwarya is seen pleading with her father too to call Bachchan back.

He does return reluctantly, but can be seen being dismissive of the photographers waiting to click him and the Jazbaa actress together. Barely seconds later he tells the photographers to shoot Aishwarya and leaves an embarrassed Aishwarya standing alone. Seemed to have no choice, the actress apologetically folds her hands in ‘namaste’ to the photographers and follows him.

Comments have always been made regarding the Dhoom actor feeling insecure of his wife’s stardom. But Bachchan has maintained that it has never affected him. In fact, in an interview published in Hindustan Times on Thursday he says, “I don’t think about such things, as they don’t matter. I’d rather prioritise what’s important. Other things are fickle and only fickle people can think on those lines. A genuine person will thank God for giving him a dad like Amitabh Bachchan who he can learn so much from, and a wife like Aishwarya, who loves him unconditionally.”

What then was the reason for his dourness, one can only conjecture.

Earlier at the same event, Randeep Hooda, who plays the title role in the film, was seen telling a journalist to “shut up” when he repeatedly asked the actor whether he felt overshadowed by Aishwarya in the film.
