Bollywood stars and the media have always shared a weird relationship. But when it comes to punctuality, it seems some journalists have had it.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, notorious for his tardiness, learnt this on Friday in the south Indian city of Chennai. The actor and his co-star Deepika Padukone were in town to promote their upcoming film, Happy New Year, which was filmed in Dubai.
The press conference, which was scheduled for a 4pm start, only began at 8pm when Khan eventually turned up. Not happy, the journalists voiced their displeasure and would not be pacified even after the star offered them one-on-one interaction. They then staged a walkout.
According to Indian media reports, organisers later said there was a miscommunication between event handlers and the journalists, who apparently were told the press conference was only scheduled to start at 7pm, and that the actor arrived at 7.45pm.
Already accustomed to King Khan’s habit of turning up late, we find that a little hard to believe.
