The trailer of award-winning TV and film actor Ahsan Khan’s next, Chupan Chupai, was recently unveiled at Nueplex Cinemas in Karachi. Written and directed by Mohsin Ali, a National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) graduate, and produced by US-based Ray Khan and Zayed Shaikh, also from NAPA, under the banner of Huzu Productions, the film deals with the issue of unemployment in a comic way. As Khan told Gulf News tabloid!, it’s not slapstick but a social satire with shades of dark humour — the kind we’ve seen in the earlier, hugely successful Na Maloom Afraad and Actor In Law.
Talking about why opted to do this film, Khan said, “My character in Udaari was so heavy, both mentally and physically, that I was looking for a good opportunity to break away from it. Hence, Chupan Chupai.”
Also present at the launch was Neelum Munir, the film’s leading lady, who is a well-known face on small screen, and seasoned actors Sakina Samon and Talat Hussain. The film is due for a worldwide release on December 29.
